My first 10k

Yesterday was rather hectic. Parkrun in the morning. Laura came to watch for the first time, though she spent more time playing chase with the two dogs there. Then 2 panto performances. One to a sell out audience of mostly children. That was scary. In the end I was so exhausted I didn’t even make it to the pub.

Today, after about 12 hours sleep I was feeling a lot better. My training plan called for 6 miles so off I went. I planned to go up Ally Pally like I did before. It was still rather windy and I hadn’t gone far before questioning the wisdom of going up the tallest hill in North London in this weather. I only made it halfway up the hill, the wind wasn’t too bad there and I was struggling a bit so decided to head back. I did manage to get this picture though.

The way back was a lot easier and not just because it was mostly downhill. I then had the thought that if I could just keep going for a little bit I could do my very first 10k. Which as you’ve probably noticed from the title of this post I managed.
