BatFit Challenge two

The second challenge in BatFit 2012 is to dance for 20mins a day to VNV Nation. Now I don’t actually own anything by them so I have been instead using the bounciest artist I have, Ayria. When you actually try and do something like this you realise just how long twenty minutes is, that or just how ridiculously unfit I am. Still I have been enjoying myself, nit sure yet if it will become part of a regular exercise regime, but it’s a nice gentle start to doing something regularly.

No I am not going to post any pictures of me dancing up here. If you are that desperate to see me make a fool of myself you can come and see me in panto. Yes I know shameless plug, still Babes in the Wood is on over the next two weekends. Tickets and details are available here

Carpe Juglum

Yes I have know this for a little while but now it’s on the website it’s official. In November I will be in the Woodhouse Players production of Carpe Jugulum. Based on the book by Terry Pratchett, click here for my review.

I will be playing the vampyre Krimson. so yes after years in the London Vampyre scene without doing so I now have full filled the goth stereotype of having a stupidly spelt ‘spooky’ name.

I am rather excited about this one, as anyone who has spoken to me recently can probably confirm. Though there is just one slight problem, as my lovely flatmates have been so keen to point out, thank you guys. That is that although being a vampyre is really cool, you are now on the wrong side in a Pratchett book, which means going against the likes of Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg. Which any fan of the Discworld will tell you is a really bad idea. You’ll have to come see it if you want to know what happens though.

The Doctor Dreams

Or rather it seems I dream about him.

No this is not going to become a regular feature but I woke up in such a good mood I had to share.

So I dreamt I was at the Welsh church helping at a rehersal for something. All seemed to be going ok when we had some unexpected visitors, two members of the royal family! No idea which two but as it was probably influenced by seeing the trailer for The King’s Speech earlier that evening I don’t think it matters. After a while they disapeared through one of the doors next to our stage that lead into one of the other church rooms.

After this a video was projected onto the stage, can’t remember anything about it apart from halfway through David Tennant was in it doing his ‘I am The Doctor’ speech. Brain goes oooh trailer for the next Doctor Who.

Next the man himself walks out of aforementioned door wearing a kilt, well he is Scottish. My brain does the most random things sometimes. And this is suddenly far more important than I’ve just met royalty.

Next thing I know he’s standing next to me in my black leather trenchcoat. I go to ask him if it’s mine and decide not to when he say’s ‘it’s ok, ask the question.’ So I do, it turns out it is my coat, one of the crew borrowed it from where I had left it apparently.

Finally he asks where the nearest Tesco’s is, answer right next door, and then asks if I want to go with him. Hmmm oppotunity to elope with The Doctor, yes please.

Funny thing is it’s not the first time I’ve dreamt about running away with The Doctor, the last time it was Matt Smith (the current one if you aren’t a fan). He sat next to me on a bus and said he liked my hat before asking me to go with him.

Audition Update

In an update to Tuesday’s post on my audition Rob, the director, has just phoned and offered me the part of Sollum. For those of you still a bit confused he likes jewelssssss and other preciousss things, and has a brother in LotR.

So in other words I get to do what I’ve been doing for a very long time and impersonate Andy Serkis. Though as a side note to Pippin if she reads this, I promise not to use it to scare you this time :p

The Little Mermaid

I’ve just come back from an audition for The Little Mermaid. I read for Dither and Sollum, though I’m hoping more for the latter. Seemed to go ok. Had to read a bit from each character (plus quote LotR), sing and tell a joke.

Well at least it’s over now. Its definitive my least favourite bit about productions.

Vicky’s Party

So this Saturday me and Skippy went to Vicky’s 30th birthday party. The twist, this was a jungle party. I had a great time, and I’m sure everyone else did too.

Though lessons learnt of the evening; you can enjoy playing with hand puppets whatever your age, conga lines don’t work in spirals, no matter how nice it is Rob’s punch is DEADLY and you get less strange looks dressed as a panther when going round Tescos than you do if you wear a velvet cloak in Swindon!

It’s that time of year again…

Oh, no it isn’t!

Now is the time when stupid people like me think it would be a good idea to audition for panto. This year it is Ali Baba and the four tea leaves. Have a look at the cast list, I’m thinking of Neville or Dora.

Though I am of course terrified at the prospect of having to sing again, though Skippy has been wonderful at helping me this year and I actually feel rather more confident about it. So thank you hunny.

Auditions are tonight, after an open evening at work so I guess I’ll be a little tired. I’ll post as soon as I know either way though.

Sorry Guys…

I didn’t get the part :(

Following a really interesting audition which involved a workshop style thing where we got to practice and then read parts I recieved an email informing me I didn’t get in.

Though Chuque told me my accent was good, I figured that it must have been good for an American to say so!

Yes I’m disappointed, but that’s the way these things go. I might still get involved backstage though.

Oh and thanks to all the people who encouraged me to go for it, I don’t think I would have without your encouragement, you know who you are.

Do I or Don’t I?

I have recently received the details for the next Woodhouse production. Galileo by Bertolt Brecht, trans. Charles Laughton. All the details about the various parts available can be found here.

The audition is on Wednesday and will be a workshop type thing, though at the moment the main thing putting me off is the requirement to at least attempt an American accent (that and I can barely breathe at the moment due to a stinking cold!)

Then again I was put off from the panto audition by the requirement to sing and still went for it and got the best part I could have wished for, wonderful character. Thanks Rob!

What do you think?
